VISION: To promote an inclusive and empowered society that can participate in poverty reduction, good governance and sustainable human development strategies

CIVIL SOCIETY DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE FACILITY

Merciful International Guild was involved in advocacy in civil democratic governance with Amkeni Wakenya (UNDP) training women leaders in 11 constituencies in Great Rift and part of Central province.

Project Beneficiaries

The Total number of direct beneficiaries reached by the project activities throughout the 1st year was 160 women leaders in which an estimate of 4,000 indirect beneficiaries could be reached by the end of the year 2009 since each leader had to train their groups back home making it possible to hit the 4,000 mark.

Project Locations

These women leaders were drawn from Kikuyu, Kipipiri, Lari, Limuru, Kinangop, Ol'kalau, Ndaragwa, Subukia, Rongai, Molo and Naivasha constituencies .

Why Women?

Investing in women proved to be yielding a lot as training one woman you have trained a family, a self help group, Church members and neighbors, meaning you end up training more people indirectly than you may imagine. This came out very well during the Evaluation and therefore we recommend that more focus be directed to women leaders on issues affecting the Nation.
